Benone Strand

This area is unrivalled in the British Isles and possibly in Europe. Natural sand dunes, dramatic 750m high cliffs dissected by water falls and heather-covered plateaux back the superb seven miles of perfect beach. The nearby award winning Tourist complex allows families to have a go at tennis or putting or to swim in the outdoor heated pools. One of the area's best caravan sites is also located here. The beach is recognised as one of the best sea angling beaches in Ireland.

Benone is a haven for bird life and it is claimed that up to 120 different species of shell life have been found on the beach in one day, including rare specimens. As a result the area has been designated as a Nature Reserve and a Natural History Exhibition has been created within the Tourist Complex. Benone has been awarded the European Blue Flag and Premier Resort Seaside Award.
